Meeting the Kenyan mayor was a great realization; the upcoming Rath yatra festival is what gave us an opportunity to meet him.

The meeting was arranged by one of the country’s councilor, as we arrived at his chamber it seemed as if we were in a different world, his office was well decorated with flowers and a posh carpet, after waiting for almost one hour, he arrived storming in the door with his hands high in the air chanting “Hare Krishna”, he introduced himself as the mayor of the city, & was very welcoming. our temple president H.G umapati prabhu garlanded him, & exchanged few friendly words, he was very happy having met the devotees after such a long time, he said “when I was young in the 80’s I would always eat food from Hare Krishna temple & every Saturday I would wait eagerly to see the harinam party pass an enliven everybody in the town”. He thanked us for all the activities we do, and he said “our Government is ready to work with Hare Krishna people for anything they want because they help everybody.” HG lavanga Prabhu & I gave him an invitation to come & have lunch which he accepted, saying I miss your food, definitely I will come. He concluded by accepting our invitation of being the chief guest at the rath yatra festival on the 19June 2011.our dandavats onto the pioneer devotees who worked tirelessly, planting the seeds. Haribol

    Very nice seva…
Planting the seed… This is our program… and in due course of time, the seed fructifies…

Chanting the Holy Name, sharing spiritual knowledge, performing arts, distributing prasadam and doing welfare to others in society…

For this last reason, the mayor expressed the fact that “our Government is ready to work with Hare Krishna people for anything they want because they help everybody”. This exemplifies how important is for instance Food for Life, providing education to children, etc…

People understand and appreciate compassion, and this Movement is parama karuna, supreme compassion…
Hence, it is for us to serve in the line of Sri-Sri Gaura-Nitai, all the Vaishnava acaryas and Srila Prabhupada.

All glories to the Kenyan devotees and the Kenyan yatra…
    Hare Krushna

    Yours in service
