In the Lalita-mÄdhava, RÅ«pa GosvÄmÄ« explains that the movements of Kį¹į¹£į¹a’s eyebrows are just like the YamunÄ and that the smiling of RÄdhÄrÄį¹Ä« is just like the moonshine. When the YamunÄ and the moonshine come in contact on the bank of the river, the water tastes just like nectar, and drinking it gives great satisfaction....

By Radha DasiNo time to be personal, I have my "to do" list. How can we help and encourage each other if we don't take the time to know each other? There must be friendship among devotees and the time and space to develop it. Examples of friendship from the scriptures, Sudama, Arjuna etc. What is in our way is the tendency for impersonalism.

By Chaitanya Kishore DasPeople, in general, wish the Birthday boy or girl that they may live many more years, and this day may come again and again, and Devotees sing āMay you never take Birth Againā . This may seem odd and strange to a common man the whole process of devoteeās celebration of this Day which is so special and dear to a common man. However Devotees are aware of the importance of this birth in the human form, based on the teachings of the Vedic Literature like Bhagavad Gita and Srimad Bhagavatam, this birth in the human form is extremel...

By Kamalini Devi DasiWe're seeing Krishna at every moment. We're just not aware of it. There's nowhere Krishna is not, so it's really amazing that we can't see Him. At the same time, we can't see very much with our material eyes, so we shouldn't be surprised that we can't see Krishnaāthe source of all that existsāpersonally. Even with sufficient light, we can only see what's within the visible color spectrum. Without light, we can't even see our hand in front of our face.

In the PadyÄvalÄ« of RÅ«pa GosvÄmÄ« it is stated that when the gopÄ«s hear the sound of Kį¹į¹£į¹a’s flute, they immediately forget all rebukes offered by the elderly members of their families. They forget their defamation and the harsh behavior of their husbands. Their only thought is to go out in search of Kį¹į¹£į¹a. When...

The parental love of mother YaÅodÄ for Kį¹į¹£į¹a steadily increases, and her love and ecstasy are sometimes described as intense affection and sometimes as overwhelming attachment. An example of attachment for Kį¹į¹£į¹a with overwhelming affection is given in ÅrÄ«mad-BhÄgavatam, Tenth Canto, Sixth Chapter, verse 43, where Åukadeva GosvÄmÄ« addresses MahÄrÄja ParÄ«kį¹£it in this way: “My...

By Kesava Krsna DasaIt appears that a number of atheistic scientists have caught wind of the accusation of āNo-purposeā levelled against them. They have done some homework and figured out cute responses in debate. They now try to make atheism appealing for the heartstrings, like religion does. āYes, of course there is purpose to our lives... and we love and want to share that love...ā is their charming open-arms invitation. Is there such a thing as scientific love? How would such āloveā benefit h...

Hearing the song of Kį¹į¹£į¹a’s flute, the peacocks dance, and all the other creatures become stunned when they see them. Demigoddesses traveling through the sky in their airplanes are vexed by Cupid, and their garments become loose. The ears of the cows stand on end as they drink the nectar of this flute-song, and their...

The gopÄ«s declared, “To see Lord Kį¹į¹£į¹a playing His flute while taking the cows to pasture is the highest perfection for the eyes. What pious activities has this flute performed that enable him to freely drink the nectar of ÅrÄ« Kį¹į¹£į¹a’s lips-a blessing we cowherd girls find difficult to achieve? (Srimad Bhagavatam—-10:21–summary)....

“It is by great fortune that one comes to Krishna consciousness on the path of bhakti-yoga to become well situated according to the Vedic direction. “Krishna is known as Madana-mohana because He conquers the mind of Cupid. He is also known as Madana-mohana due to His accepting the devotional service of the damsels of Vraja and rendering favors unto them. After conquering Cupid’s pride, the Lord engages in the rasa dance as the new Cupid. He is also known as...

“Krishna is never conquered by anyone, but a devotee can conquer Him through devotional service. As stated in Brahma-samhita (5.33): vedesu durlabham adurlabham atma-bhaktau. One cannot understand Krishna simply by reading Vedic literature. Although all Vedic literature is meant for understanding Krishna, one cannot understand Krishna without being a lover of Krishna.” (Caitanya-caritamrta Madhya 4.137,...

“When the transcendental sound of Krishna’s flute is heard, the devotee’s anxiety to continue to hear that flute enables him to penetrate the covering of the material world and enter into the spiritual sky, where the transcendental sound of the flute enters the ears of the followers of the gopis. By Dr. Richard L. ThompsonAlthough not an advocate of creationism, Sadaputa Dasa (Dr. Richard L. Thompson) demonstrates in this lecture that most evidence for the evolution theory also supports the theory of intelligent design. And since Darwinism leaves so much about human nature unexplained, he suggests we broaden our view and approach alternate outlooks with an open mind.
