By Darpa-ha Krishna dasExcerpts from "Srila Prabhupada – The Founder-Acarya of ISKCON" by His Grace Ravindra Svarupa Das. "On a cosmological scale, it maps, models, and illustrates the realized truth of acintyabhedabheda-tattva: that nothing is different from Krsna, yet Krsna is different from everything. Within the main dome of the temple we see the cosmos displayed as it discloses itself to those who experience it with unoccluded perception: as pervaded by and connected to Krsna as the Lord’s own potencies...

By Krishna-kripa Das“The story started with Caitanya Jivan being brought in by Jaya Sita devi. Although she met the devotees elsewhere, she is from Puerto Rico. Prabhupada wanted the locals to do the preaching. We have to thank them for many more things than just Ratha-yatra. They encouraged a bhaktin to donate enough to pay the entire mortgage for the temple property on Janmastami in 2011. And Caitanya Jivan donated a restaurant. I was very grateful and thanked him and asked, ‘Is there anything I can do for ...

By a DasaFollowing the success of New Vrindavan in West Virginia, founded in 1968, Prabhupada's disciples bought a 350-acre farm in Port Royal, Pennsylvania in 1974 and named it Gita Nagari. They planned to model it on Prabhupada's 1956 prophecy. He had envisioned an environment of peace and prosperity, where devotees could live simply, drink pure, healthy cow's milk, and cultivate the principles of Krishna consciousness.

By Bhakta GriffinWhen we look at the major theistic religions of the world we can see that they all emphasize approaching this supreme consciousness through prayer and supplication, with the highest goal of developing love for Him. In other words our petty abilities have no capacity to impress this Supreme Being to force Him to reveal Himself to us, but our love does.

By Arjuna Krsna DasIf anyone wants to really experience ‘Simple living and high thinking’, then Gokuldham is a must to experience a life of bliss through austerity. We can also come to realize how much modern living has spoilt us by learning to live in a place, which has absolute bare necessities in terms of modern expectation, but has everything one needs to live.

By Amogh Gauranga DasWe often hear Dhruv Maharaja Story. In fact we hear, get inspired and after the lecture is over we probably forget it. But we never saw the Dhruv Maharaja story as a perfect example of goal setting, achieving and becoming a role model. One has to initially understand what is meant by goal. People generally get confused between desire and goal.

By krishna dasIn today’s stress-filled environment, corporate leaders are increasingly turning towards the world’s time-honored traditions for relief and insight. While they usually seek relief through yoga practice, many go further, seeking insight about the nature of yoga and of life itself – and of how to make it all work in today’s world.

By Kesava Krsna DasaIn former times, codes of warfare ensured combat on battlefields. When Asvattama killed the five sons of the Pandavas and Draupadi outside of a battlefield and then released an unwithdrawable brahmastra weapon at an unborn child within the womb of mother Uttara, Asvattama felt justified with his acts of terror. Asvattama felt justified in committing barbarity against soft targets because: 1) His father Dronacarya was killed by 'unfair' means after the telling of a 'lie' by Yudhisthira 2) He ...

By Kripamoya dasNot everyone likes religion, and even when they do they like the one they know, not a foreign brand. And something as alien-looking as Hare Krishna with its strange-smelling incense, flowers, ‘tambourines’ and blue-coloured gods is as foreign as they come. Consequently, there are many who just want to express their considered theological opinion by throwing something – and its not always rose petals.

By Purushottam KumarPleasure can turn into pain and celebration can turn into tragedy within no time. Srimad Bhagavatam narrates the story of Gajendra, a gigantic elephant, who was happily wandering in the valleys of Trikuta Mountain with his family members and friends. To relieve his fatigue he entered a lake, which was filled with beautiful lotus flowers, for a bath but was soon caught by a death personified crocodile. His life changed within few seconds.

By Madhava SmullenNew Vrindaban, May 20th, 1969 – A small cluster of devotees waited at the entrance to the rural West Virginia property, hearts beating with anticipation. As the Lincoln town car turned the corner, they hit the gravel driveway in obeisance. Srila Prabhupada stepped out of the car. “Oh, there are many waiting here,” he said, looking around with a smile that lit up his entire face. “Jai Sri Krishna!”

By a DasaThe very question of "who came first" is problematic, given that God is beyond time. Vishnu and Krishna exist eternally, though it might be said that one is the source of the other, much like the sun and its rays: The sun globe is "prior" in the sense that its rays emanate from it, and not the other way around. But they both exist simultaneously: As soon as there is a sun, there are sunrays. The question, then, becomes this: In the case of Vishnu and Krishna, who is the sun and who the rays?

By Krishna Dharma DasaAlthough Ambarisha could understand that by Vishnu’s grace he had become powerful, he was not interested in material opulence. He wanted only to serve the Lord. By that service the king had fully realized the Absolute Truth. For him even the highest material planet is no better than hell. Absorbed in thoughts of Vishnu, he accepted the vanaprastha order to engage only in spiritual practice. After handing over the kingdom to his sons, he dressed in simple clothes and made his way to the for...
