Help renovate ISKCON Mayapur!

As you know, since more than ten days, Sri Mayapur has been severely flooded with more than 70,000 people in about 40 villages adversely affected by this flood. With the limited funds and resources at hand, and with the help of generous donors, we at ISKCON Mayapur were able to distribute prasada and offer medical assistance to the people despite our facilities being damaged.

In response to the tragic departure of Sriman Sujitendriya prabhu's wife Gauri Radhika, daughter Yamunangi (granddaughter and great-granddaughter of Srila Prabhupada) and his brother Sri Hari prabhu, some devotees have enquired where they may send funds to help him at this difficult time. Sujitendriya was already helping the widows and families of two other of his brothers when this disaster struck.

Although this year’s flood is not as big as in the year 2000, still it has brought damage and suffering to ISKCON Mayapur and nearby villages of dham-vasis. Precautions during floods

Gangamai is slowly coming once again to touch the lotus feet of lord Nrisimhadeva.Slowly the water is raising at a steady pace.All the day school and Housing is now totally flooded and water level is already 4 feet to 5 feet.I saw many childrens having fun in the water in the housing area but as a pathologist we always have a microscopic view! I feel following Health precautions have to be taken !

Mayapur Flood Report – 2006

Floods in Mayapur are usually caused by release of water from various Dams which are about 100km upstream. Around noon, the local government officials informed ISKCON management that they were releasing water down stream gradually. ISKCON Mayapur management immediately swung into action and convened a meeting of the Department heads at 4:00pm to discuss preventive measures and relief action.

HINDUS PROTEST HARASSMENT IN KAZAKHSTAN

A simultaneous protest took place in New York City. Both demonstrations were timed to intentionally coincide with the “Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions,” held in Kazakhstan. Many human rights groups and international governments, including the United Kingdom and India, are pressuring the Kazakh government to go beyond sponsoring conferences on religious freedom, and instead work to stop bigotry and harassment of religious minorities in their own county.

Last month there was held the first of two recent conferences in Kazakhstan about religious liberty. ISKCON devotees attended that conference, and our case was brought to the attention of the whole convention by scholars and other delegates from the UK and the USA–who pointed out that religious freedom principles were being violated by the hosts of the conference– the Kazakh government.

He was hospitalized and remained in ICU for most of a week. He was diagnosed with internal bleeding and an accumulation of toxins. He came very close to leaving his body. Through blood transfusions donated by local medical students and a watchful eye he is making a recovery.

Kazakhstan Crisis
