Dear devotees,
Hare Krishna! Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
This is an update on HH Romapada Swami’s health.
Maharaj was admitted to Birla Heart institute in Kolkata on February 18th, 2012 following symptoms of breathlessness, chest pain and belching.
Maharaj is currently very alert and stable.
Detailed investigations have revealed the following –
1) Heart condition is normal other than minor age related changes.
2) Mild inflammation of the lining surrounding the lungs due to a virus – this is common in India and will resolve itself with supportive care.
3) Gastritis – inflammation of lining of stomach caused due to some pain killers Maharaj was taking for knee pain. This can be easily treated with acid blockers.
Maharaj will be discharged from the hospital tomorrow.
During this entire process, the devotees doctors from Bhaktivedanta hospital have been very supportive and sacrificing of their own personal needs and schedule to be there for Maharaj. Maharaj is deeply grateful to them and has expressed his appreciation of their sacrifices, service mood and devotee care system multiple times. Maharaj is particularly grateful to Dr. Saksi Gopal prabhu an intensive care physician from Bhaktivedanta hospital who has been with Maharaj throughout.
Maharaj also very much appreciates and is extremely grateful for the prayers of all the devotees around the world.
He has expressed that he will be cutting down his travel over the next couple of months and take adequate rest to regain strength. During this period Maharaj has requested devotees to please abstain from writing to him inquiring about his health. As many of us know Maharaj personally answers all his email communications and it would be very taxing for him to personally respond to everyone though he would really like to do so.
I will post any significant updates on his health and I will be very happy to answer any questions or concerns and receive any suggestions about Maharaj’s health.
Thank you very much.
Your aspiring servant,

The doctors at Bhaktivedanta Hospital are wonderful! My profuse thanks to them for helping me and for the help they give to so many devotees.
I’m not sure whether it is appropriate to publish extensive personal details of a devotees medical records on a public forum unless maharaja granted permission. This could be a breach of confidentiality.
