“My dear Lord, by expanding Your transcendental vibrations, You reveal the actual meaning of everything. You are the all-pervading sky within and without, and You are the ultimate goal of pious activities executed both within this material world and beyond it. I therefore offer my respectful obeisances again and again unto You.”~Srimad-Bhagavatam 4.24.40

We may learn from this sloka that pious activities are not the goal. The Lord is the goal. In the Nectar of Devotion, (paraphrased), it is stated, what benefit is there in auspicious pious activities for one who is constantly remembering the Supreme Personality of Godhead? And what is the fault in one who is devoid of all pious merit if his body mind and words are engaged in the service of the Supreme Personality of Godhead?
The wonderful look on the Lord's face in this painting defies all of the innocence in creation. He is the very source of innocence. If He so desires the expression of a naïve nature is His to enjoy, yet He is never less than absolutely powerful due to it!
