rila Bhaktivinode Thakur, The Seventh Goswami, pioneered the spread of Lord Chaitanya’s teachings in the West, sending copies of his works to Ralph Waldo Emerson in the USA and to Reinhold Rost in Europe in 1880. He is the first acarya in our sampradaya to propagate the waves of the nectarean ocean of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s unparalleled divine mission to places outside India. Following in his lead, His Divine Grace AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada had translated, printed, and published volumes of sastras to propagate the mission of Lord Chaitanya throughout the world.
Today, on this auspicious occasion of the 100th anniversary of the holy disappearance day of Srila Bhaktivinode Thakur, the India Sankirtana Leaders Team is pleased to offer at his lotus feet, “Waves of Sankirtana,” a monthly newsletter dedicated to the systematic propagation and organized distribution of Srila Prabhupada’s books throughout India. This monthly newsletter is a humble attempt aimed at connecting and inspiring devotees across India to take up and continue this most dear service to Srila Prabhupada.
This effort is an offshoot of a conference “Seminar on Merits of Organized Book Distribution” held by the India Sankirtana Leaders Team at ISKCON Tirupati in January 2014. We are undertaking this service with the guidance and blessings of HG Bhima prabhu, HG Vaisesika prabhu, and several senior devotees across temples in India. The Indian Sankirtana Leaders Team will convene for another conference in New Delhi between 6 and 7 October, 2014. To register for this event, please contact sriramadasa.brs@gmail.com or vinodhvalluri@gmail.com.
The monthly newsletter is hosted at the site: www.wavesofsankirtana.blogspot.in. Please read it, share it, and let the nectar overflow! To contribute your stories, insights, opinions, and suggestions to the newsletter, please write to indiasankirtana@gmail.com.
