Dear Maharajas/ Prabhus/ Matajis,
26th Sept.’07
Ganga Mayi started flooding the ISKCON Campus at 18:30 hrs in the evening today. She started overflowing on her banks across the Bhakti Siddhanta road and with great gushing made her entry into ISKCON Campus at Mayapur through service gate. She marked her visit exactly after an year, after she flooded ISKCON Mayapur last year on sept.25, 2006. ISKCON Mayapur management is taking all course of action to safeguard devotees and property. Brahamacharis were in action from the morning placing more than 500 sand bags to restrict her flow. Mayapur Housing Commission informed all the grihasta residents at the ground floor 24 hours before to pack up their things and put up in safe places. They started issuing coupons for accommodation at various guesthouses. Some grihastas moved out of Mayapur. Till afternoon, the water was not flowing out and until then the boundary wall shop keepers were little relaxedly packing their things but the shops selling deity paraphernalia stared clearing up their stocks. But as soon as the water started entering, the boundary wall place became very busy and shops keepers became alert understanding the emergency. Soon, many trolley vans ( flat richaws) were seen in the area, transporting things. Grihasta devotees were seen doing last minute emergency shopping stocking puffed rice, laundary shops, biscuits, instant foods etc. Kids are having lot of fun playing in the flowing waters.
Devotees are constantly visiting Ganga to access her speed. As of now, temple is still not in water but the book table is empty. Sri Prahlad Pr. was flooding the temple with Hare Krishna Mahamantra on the occasion of Haridas Thakur’s appearance day.
