Jayapataka Maharaja doing the impossible

by Administrator / 12 Apr 2009 / Published in Blog thoughts  /

Pandava vijaya dasa: Dear Dandavats, PAMHO.ALGTSP. you probably knew this already but I was shocked ys Pandava

Hare bol,PAMHO.ALGTSP. This reputable Brahmin went to India in February 2009and said Jayapataka Maharaj was very very impressive. He gave class in Mayapura every evening. He talked very softly and slurred and had to have someone else say into a microphone what he said because he spoke so softly and slurred his words this devotee spoke spoke in English and hindi. Every 15 seconds someone would squirt water in Maharaja mouth and move his lips to swallow -(as Maharaj may not be able to do that yet)Still he preached on -night after night. Then one day my Brahmin friend heard a soft kirtan- and he looked for who was singing and it was Maharaj-saying one verse of the somara prayers and Maharaj would take one step-with the wheelchair following close behind-then another verse and another step.he did 108 steps. (with the devotee squirting water in his mouth every 15 seconds) Jayapataka Maharaja refuses to slow down for his condition and is preaching away..

Anyway-I never knew Maharaj was in such poor physical shape and thought he had pretty much recovered. All glories to you Jayapataka Maharaja -a servant to the servant,

Your servant behind the Dallas Tv show Pandava vijaya dasa

It is wonderful to have Jayapataka Maharaj with us still. His prognosis for survival after his stroke was at best 30%. Not only is he living, but he is serving. When we consider all things, in light of Srila Rupa Goswami Prabhu’s symptoms of surrender, accepting everything which is favorable for rendering devotional service….It is not necessarily related to any physical limitations. If physical limitations were the issue, then Krishna das Kaviraj, nearly blind and 96 years old or something, would not have written the Chaitanya Charitamrita! How much the world has benefitted from his service! And, Srila Prabhupad travelled to the West at age 70 with heart attacks en route.
In the case of our divine Godbrother and friend, spiritual master and guiding light, His Holiness Jayapataka Maharaj only sees devotional service. Physical limitations will come to all of us with age and infirmity, but we must try to make our choices based on the directions of Srila Rupa Goswami’s directions. What is favorable for offering devotional service is to be accepted. It is not necessary, and may not be realistic to expect a complete recovery for His Holiness from the physical able-bodied standpoint, but we must accept him as he is or will be, facilitating his service for the benefit of so many aspiring vaishnavas, and to permit His Grace to express his beautiful heart.
No one is without fault in this world, and Krishna Himself says that every endeavour is clouded like fire and smoke, but Krishna knows that and peers into our heart of hearts to extract the love that we have for him. I always remember Sripad Jayapataka Maharaj as a most humble vaishnava, dedicated to Srila Prabhupad’s service with heart and soul, an inspiration to one and all. Hare Krishna. Pusta Krishna das

Please accept my humble obeisances, All Glories to Srila Prabhupada !

Yes, Pusta Krsna Prabhu is confirming what is conveyed in the “Upadesamrta”, Text 6, in context of the superficial appearances of a Devotee are not relevant to their actual Spiritual position. The tolerance of the immense trails and tribulations of Maharaja Jayapataka Swami are exemplary for all of us!

Met Maharaja the first time in 2001 in Sri Dham Mayapura. While paying my respects to him and the Vaisnava’s he approached me and simply asked, “How may I serve you?” Considering my insignificance and his sincerity, my confidence was restored with ISKCON’s leadership.

In November 2008, I was at Mayapura during at the beginning of his Grace’s medical complications and was astounded by all the support and prayers going out for him. When greeting his God brother, Maharaja Bhakti Caru Swami, I mentioned how nice it is of him to assist the Devotee’s in Mayapura while Maharaja was at intensive care. Maharaja Bhakti Caru Swami gave me the most sobering look. I realized it is the Good Lord’s mercy we get any association and we are really caring for each other. My prayers went out immediately for Maharaja Jayapataka Swami and another in gratitude of Maharaja Bhakti Caru Swami.

As a Grhasthra, I’m learning that the Sannyasi’s are most important for our advancement. Their stabilized consciousness is a fulcrum that will assist in moving all of our obstacles in devotion service.

Thank you for your valuable time.

thank you HG Pusta Krishna Prabhu

In times like this, when we are being sucked by the negativity and hypocricy of Kaliyuga which results in envy, fault finding, it is rare to find a statement as yours.

your reply is befitting a true Vaishnava. In fact if we can physically see you, we should take the dust of your feet and put it on our heads. We too will get love and affection for our Godbrothers and sisters and be free from envy.

Re: Jayapataka Maharaja- He is a general. In his condition he should be having rest, but his bodily ailments do not deter his soul which is very heroic like his name. He is an inspiration not only to devotees but non devotees who have suffered from stroke and are undergoing rehab.

Pandava Vijay Prabhu, please dont get carried away so easily. You are a senior devotee, you have influence on many, and you should be thinking in the line of Pusta Krishna Prabhu, unless you wrote this simply to generate response.

Again, very touching reply, and I am certain, Srila Prabhupada, with all other Acaryas are also pleased with you.

Please do not doubt my words.

    your servant
    Gangamata Goswamini dd
