By Chaitanya Charan dasMantra meditation is like a workout for the mind. It strengthens us by first straining our mental muscles. We need to willingly go through the strain to get to the rewards of peace and joy.

By Visakha Priya dasiSome years ago in Bangalore I met an elderly Indian woman in love with London. She had been living there for a long time and could not wait to go back. Seeing the Vaisnava tilak on my forehead she told me about “a wonderful book” she’d just read: “My conversations with God.” Therein, “God” tells the author there is nothing wrong with sex and money—and so many other things in support of hedonism. “In any case, the woman concluded, “all scriptures are manmade, so there is no meaning to all these restrictions we’ve been brought up with...

By Ambika DasiAccording to religious principles, a female guru must be chaste assistant/helpmate to her husband. She is thereby called dharma-patni. If her husband is a diksa-guru brahmana, she becomes a brahmani/guru-patni/dharma-patni. Therefore, the term FDG for Female Diksa Guru is more aptly named Female Dharma-patni Guru for there is no authorized system in a bonafide Gaudiya Vaisnava sampradaya for a Female to supercede her husband as Acarya.

By Bhakti Raghava SwamiWith the harvesting of our sugar cane field during the month of January, students and teachers alike got the rare opportunity to learn the art of cutting and transporting sugar cane sticks, the art of manually squeezing the sugar cane juice by utilizing the traditional cold press method and finally, the most attractive part of the whole process, the art of making pure organic jaggery (gur) by boiling the sugar cane on a low heat for at least 6 hours.

By Hari Narayana DasThree magnificient Ratha Yatra festivals in three most unlikely places of Indonesia in 36 days with unparalleled success...this is certainly a glorious victory for Srila Prabhupada in Indonesia. On behalf of all the devotees involved, we express our sincere feelings of gratitude to H.H. Kavicandra Swami and H.H. Ramai Swami, the GBCs of Indonesia for their support, guidance and encouragement at all times to increase the sankirtan movement in Indonesia.

By Indradyumna Swami“Victory! Victory! Victory! I behold something wonderful! All the inauspiciousness of the living entities is destroyed. No one is going to hell. Yamaraja has no more work to do and the effects of Kali-yuga have ceased to exist. This is because all over the world an increasing number of Lord Visnu’s devotees are singing His names while dancing and playing musical instruments.”

By Chandan Yatra DasI perpetually worship Sri Nityananda, the root of the tree of Krishna-Bhakti, who wandering around in Bengal approached the door of every home. With upraised arms he exclaimed: "O Brothers! Please constantly chant the holy names of Hari. If you do so, I will take the responsibility to deliver you from the ocean of material existence."

By Vijaya das Look what New Delhi did: 641,898 book points! And look what Juhu did: 453,396 book points! Incredible. And Mayapur: 325,423 book points. And look what the simple temple, Sri Sri Radha-Gopinath in Chowpatti, did: 309,661 book points--amazing. All of these temples increased by 999% above their monthly average. I think the book distributors in these temples were in samadhi, especially Madhusundara Prabhu in New Delhi who did 31,410 book points. He should be in the book distributors hall of fame if such a hall ever manifests.

By Udayananda DasaI recently received an email from one of our Godbrother’s. It was a copy of some excerpts from a talk you gave on November 14, 2013 regarding "The Glorious Position of Srila Prabhupada". The paper was seven printed pages long and gave amazing vijnana realizations of the appearance and pastimes of Srila Prabhupada supported by appropriate shastras. This was very clear, relevant and accurate forecasting of HDG by the shastras themselves.

By Hari Narayana DasIndonesia is receiving profuse showers of mercy from Their Lordships Sri Sri Jagannatha, Baladeva and Subhadra Devi and is still continuing. In an attempt to glorify Srila Prabhupada to the best of their ability, Hare Krishna devotees hailing from different places of Indonesia under the guidance His Holiness Subhag Swami, took up the most seemingly impossible task of having a Ratha Yatra for Lord Jagannatha in Medan, Sumatera Utara (North Sumatra), Indonesia.

By Deena Bandhu DasaThe Vrindavan Festival after Gaura Purnima is usually quite hot so better to come to Vrindavan before! One year, a devotee told me that he never knew there was so nice weather in Vrindavan. So come to Vrindavan first, and then go on to Mayapur Festival and leave after Gaura Purnima when it starts to get hot! And our festival ends with plenty of time to reach for Mayapur Festival!

By Inmate Bhakta Joseph P.The time I spend chanting the Maha-mantra in the quiet early mornings is one of my most favorite times of the day. It is that special time spent in direct association with our dear Lord Sri Krsna. But there are days when I don’t feel anything special, that even in this most auspicious transcendental activity, I feel alone, and oh, so far from my dear Lord. When this happens, it is easy to wonder if I am actually receiving His mercy; if there is purpose to my chanting or if I am just wasting my time.

By Krishna-kirti dasFor many devotees, and especially for non-devotees, a doubt may arise as to the authority of the Vedic scriptures over the body of scientific evidence produced by the social sciences. Over the years, the hard sciences have produced many discoveries—powered flight, heart transplants, telephones, cars, computers, and so forth. In previous eras these would have been considered miraculous. For the social sciences, the expectation is held that if science is applied to the study of humanity similar miracles will be produced.
