By Visnu Murti dasaFor eight years, English has been the only language in which Vanipedia presented Srila Prabhupada’s teachings. No longer, for on May 2 (Lord Nrsimhadeva’s appearance day) we launched pages in 76 new languages. A total of 7,000 pages have already been added, and by August another 8,000 pages will appear. Each page features an audio clip, a video clip with subtitles, and links to the original Vaniquotes and Vanisource pages in English.

By ISKCON Tribal CareOn December 2014 the branch of Bhaktivedanta National School was inaugurated in Ananda Bazar, a very remote village in Assam. In the 40’s Missionaries introduced Christianity to the villages and converted most of the people in the area. Along with churches and chapels they opened Christian schools, so the children of devotees have been attending them due to lack of any other alternative. Later it was discovered that there was a need for a Vedic school not only by the devotees, but also by th...

By Sridevi dasiManorama das and his wife Jaya Sri Radhe devi dasi have been developing the ISKCON Youth Ministry bus tours since 1995. Road-tripping across the globe is an exciting way to engage the ISKCON youth in bhakti yoga, combining the youth's craving for adventure with practices of devotion. The travelers not only deepen their own bhakti, but also share it with others through kirtan and cultural presentations. Such road trips encourage young people to step out of their comfort zones, giving them an opportu...

By Rama Hari dasa(Also How To Make Free Calls To And From Nepal) The World Heritage Sites within Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur have been completely damaged. The ISKCON Temple in Kathmandu and Dharan, however, remain unscathed but the BBT building in Kathmandu has suffered cracks on the walls. By nityam bhagvata-sevaya teamNBS 11: This edition is glorifying the maha-bhagavata devotee, Bhakta Prahalad on the auspicious appearance day of Lord Narsimha Dev. The goddess of fortune could not get mercy similar to that which was offered to Prahlada Maharaja, for although she is always a constant companion of the Supreme Lord, the Lord is more inclined to His devotees. In other words, devotional service is so great that when it is offered even by those born in low families, the Lord accepts it as being more val...

By Kesava Krsna DasaThere has been an unfortunate resurgence of xenophobic attacks in South Africa. Leaders condemn these; Media outlets sensationally convey coverage to the world and people become more sceptical. Nations whose citizens are affected by xenophobic attacks voice loud concerns through channels such as the African Union. Yet in spite of the condemnation, the important questions to ask are ‘Why is this happening?’ Why here in South Africa? Is there a solution? Is there a quick fix?’

By Purushottam Nitai DasThe devastating earthquake did not differentiate among the palatial bungalows, the humble houses and the iconic buildings - all were razed to dust. In life too death does not differentiate between rich and poor, men and women, young and old and famous and ordinary people. Death takes away everything from us. We are not allowed to take even a farthing of this world. This is why the books of wisdom constantly remind us not to waste our time and life running after the material mirage. The tem...

By Chaitanya Charan Das“Expand your horizons” is a popular saying among the ambitious. The Bhagavad-gita takes this saying to a higher level by expanding our horizons from the material level to the spiritual level – from temporary worldly pleasure to eternal transcendental fulfillment. The Gita (06.20-23) outlines this fulfillment available in the state of spiritual perfection – a state where no tribulation can disturb us, a state where no temptation can allure us, a state where we ultimately become fo...

By Srutakirti dasaOn different occasions Srila Prabhupada spoke about sleep. When I first became his servant, he called me into his room after he had taken a short nap following lunch. This was at the Dallas temple when Srila Prabhupada visited the gurukula facility. He asked me if I had taken rest after eating my lunch. I said no. This was not something that was done at that time. "I am an old man," he said. "I cannot sleep very long at one time, so I take a nap after lunch." I had been with Srila Prabhupada o...

The devotees in Chile not only distribute lots of books but also have great harinamas. I was there last year -- very nice. London also had a great month of book distribution. This was the No. 1 temple in Europe in March, with 4,108 book points -- an increase of 235%. The new sankirtan leader is appropriately named Naam Sankirtan Prabhu.

By Sridevi dasi The program starts with a ten minute “warm up,” where the prisoners have a chance to share and discuss any pressing issues. Then there is a short kirtan, where all are standing and some dancing and jumping very happily. Outside prisoners who are walking by sometimes look in and watch in wonder. Then Bhagavad Gita is read, guided by their questions. At the end prasadam is served in the form of energy bars, since there are heavy regulations about bringing anything in; every food item must be fac...
