By Sivarama Swami“O son of Kuntī, all that you do, all that you eat, all that you offer and give away, as well as all austerities that you may perform, should be done as an offering unto Me.” This is bhakti. Unless one is devoted, he cannot give everything to the Supreme Lord. Unless one can do so, he cannot become a spiritual master, husband, father or mother. Similarly, the wives of the brāhmaṇas who were performing sacrifices gave up their relatives just to satisfy Kṛṣṇa. This is an example of a wife rejecting a husband who cannot deliver her from the impend...

By Pandava vijaya dasaAlthough Srila Prabhupada wanted his disciples to be as eager to distribute Krsna consciousness literature as he was, no one of them knew how to do it. Distributing a magazine and asking for small donation was one thing-but a big hardbound book? When the entire shipment of "Teaching of Lord Caitanya" had arrived in New York in April of 1967. The devotees had hired a truck, picked up the books at the dock, and unloaded them at 26 Second Avenue. They had then shipped them to ISKCON centers in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, Montreal, and elsewhere....

By Raveena Emmanuel I always wondered why Srila Prabhupad said we are Krishna’s dog. This thought always bothered me why he chose a dog. Few days ago one of a very old friend of my family engaged himself and me in a long conversation. This uncle mentioned about qualities of Dog. He said a dog has up to 40 qualities; out of which one of the most important qualities is his humility. No matter how much you hit your dog, scold them, be rude to them they will still wag their tails on seeing you.

By Dhirabhakta DasUnlike high school's there is no direct learning outcomes set by SACRE (Standing Advisory Committee on Religious Education) which frees the primary teachers to explore in their own unique manor; those requesting visits have asked me to cover festivals. Which raises a unique challenge, I cannot just put together one presentation that covers all; (a one size fit's all approach which many feel comfortable with) but a multiple layered approach given the vast age range.

By Gadi dasWe’ve had the most frustrating exchange with the most intelligent, determined rats this planet can produce…we have sealed over any and all entrance routes with tiles, cement and metal….they will not be deterred, they even eat through cement….they will not enter live traps… And when they can’t get into the kitchen, they chew the water pipes, 3 to be exact… until water shoots them in the face, and then we have a half day repair on our agenda that wasn’t on the agenda…

By Madhava SmullenWhen the community was first established under the guidance of ISKCON Founder Srila Prabhupada in 1968, it became, for many years, a shining example of the best that ISKCON had to offer. Prabhupada would often direct devotees from other newly emerging communities to study what the devotees at New Vrindaban were doing and to follow their lead in areas such as cow-protection and Deity worship. Meanwhile the cooks, jewelry makers, craftsmen and seamstresses were among the best in ISKCON.

By Visakha Priya dasiSome years ago in Bangalore I met an elderly Indian woman in love with London. She had been living there for a long time and could not wait to go back. Seeing the Vaisnava tilak on my forehead she told me about “a wonderful book” she’d just read: “My conversations with God.” Therein, “God” tells the author there is nothing wrong with sex and money—and so many other things in support of hedonism. “In any case, the woman concluded, “all scriptures are manmade, so there is no meaning to all these restrictions we’ve been brought up with...

By Ambika DasiAccording to religious principles, a female guru must be chaste assistant/helpmate to her husband. She is thereby called dharma-patni. If her husband is a diksa-guru brahmana, she becomes a brahmani/guru-patni/dharma-patni. Therefore, the term FDG for Female Diksa Guru is more aptly named Female Dharma-patni Guru for there is no authorized system in a bonafide Gaudiya Vaisnava sampradaya for a Female to supercede her husband as Acarya.

By Bhakti Raghava SwamiWith the harvesting of our sugar cane field during the month of January, students and teachers alike got the rare opportunity to learn the art of cutting and transporting sugar cane sticks, the art of manually squeezing the sugar cane juice by utilizing the traditional cold press method and finally, the most attractive part of the whole process, the art of making pure organic jaggery (gur) by boiling the sugar cane on a low heat for at least 6 hours.

By Vijaya das Look what New Delhi did: 641,898 book points! And look what Juhu did: 453,396 book points! Incredible. And Mayapur: 325,423 book points. And look what the simple temple, Sri Sri Radha-Gopinath in Chowpatti, did: 309,661 book points--amazing. All of these temples increased by 999% above their monthly average. I think the book distributors in these temples were in samadhi, especially Madhusundara Prabhu in New Delhi who did 31,410 book points. He should be in the book distributors hall of fame if such a hall ever manifests.
