World Holy Name day was celebrated in a magnificent way at Sri Mayapur, the home town of Sankirtan movement. Following the 2006 GBC resolution that ‘the observance of World Holy Name Day is to be held in connection with the anniversary observances of Srila Prabhupada’s arrival in the USA on Sept. 17, 1965, to coincide with, and commemorate, his delivering the gift of the holy name to the world’, ISKCON Mayapur organized a mega program to glorify and honor Srila Prabhupada as Vedic Ambassador for modern times on 6th September 2007.
Over 7000 people including lecturers from various colleges and school teachers, Government officers, University students, social welfare workers attended the Harinam procession in the evening from Ballaldighi to ISKCON Mayapur. A symposium on the life, teachings and contributions of Srila Prabhupada and a Multi media presentation took place in the morning. More than 300 privileged guests attended the function at Prabhupada Samadhi Mandir Auditorium. A feast was served to all the delegates in the afternoon and all the 7000 people honored Krishna Prasada in the evening. HG Hari Saura dasa and HG Racitamabara dasi gave inspiring speech on the urgency to take up to the path shown by Srila Prabhupada. HH Bhakti Purusottama Swami presided over the function.

Nagar Sankirtan department conducted more Harinam programs during this month, traveled to various villages in and around Mayapur and distributed the mercy of holy names freely to everyone.
Holy Name day Posters were printed and posted in the temple courtyard and also inside the temple premises to create awareness among the community and inspire them to join in the World Holy Name day celebrations. On 17th September to mark the Holy Name day, all the devotees from ISKCON Mayapur went on a Harinam Procession to Yogapith, the birthplace of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Holy Name and Prasada was distributed freely on this occasion. HG Jananivasa dasa and HG Pankajhangri dasa joined the Harinam kirtan. Inside the Yogapith temple, devotees went on Parikrama in the temple with Mahamantra kirtan and prayers to Mahaprabhu to make everyone of us an instrument in His mission to inundate the whole world with Hare Krishna Mahamantra.
Let the rising moon of Mayapura, Sri Gaurachandra spread his cooling rays of Sankirtan all over the world.
